Boston Scientific has been named a "Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality" for the third year in a row by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., December 5, 2016 — Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) has been recognized for the third consecutive year as a “Best Place to Work” by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. The company earned a score of 100 percent on the annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality. The rankings evaluate businesses on LGBT-related policies and practices, including equal opportunity workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.

“This continued recognition from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation is an honor that reflects our commitment to equal and fair treatment of our LGBT colleagues and our broader core values of diversity and inclusiveness,” said Tim Pratt, executive vice president and general counsel for Boston Scientific, and global executive sponsor of the company’s People Accepting and Celebrating Equality (PACE) employee resource group, a network of Boston Scientific LGBT employees and allies that works to foster professional growth and employee engagement of people of diverse sexual orientation and gender identity. “We believe that  embracing a richness of backgrounds and perspectives creates a better work environment and drives stronger business results.”

The 2017 CEI also evaluated companies on the usage of non-discriminatory contractor and vendor standards that include sexual orientation and gender identity. Boston Scientific has enhanced its Supplier Diversity program by expanding the number of diversity capability assessments of current and prospective vendors and allocating nearly $5 million in new spend in the last two years to businesses owned by historically underrepresented groups. Boston Scientific is also a member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the U.S. Business Leadership Network (which advocates for disability inclusion in the workplace and supply chain), and the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
