Boston Scientific Wins Two Edison Awards

The Boston Scientific LithoVue Empower™ Retrieval Deployment Device and AXIOS™ Stent and Electrocautery Enhanced Delivery System have received Edison Awards for Best New Products in the Medical or Dental Field. The Edison Awards recognize innovative new products, services and business leaders around the world.

• The LithoVue Empower Device received a Silver Award in the Advanced Surgical Instrument subcategory. The device addresses an unmet need in stone procedures by enabling urologists to operate a ureteroscope and basket simultaneously when retrieving kidney stones via flexible ureteroscopy (URS).
• The AXIOS Stent System received a Bronze Award in the Medical Technology and Tools subcategory and is the first and only stent in the U.S. that provides physicians with an endoscopic treatment option to manage symptomatic pancreatic pseudocysts and walled-off necrosis, two serious complications from pancreatitis.

The Edison Awards, named for Thomas Edison, is an annual competition honoring excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centered design and innovation. Awards were presented in New York on April 4.
