Patients Continue to Receive Medical Device Products on an Expedited Basis

Indianapolis, Ind. - Ronald W. Dollens, president and CEO of Guidant Corporation (NYSE and PCX: GDT), expressing support for the president and our leaders in the aftermath of the terrorist attack last week and his call to resume business as soon as possible, said today that the company's product deliveries in the U.S. and abroad are continuing on an expedited basis.

"At this time, our deliveries are moving in the U.S. and internationally as our carriers have placed our products on medical device emergency priority," commented Dollens. "We continue to manufacture and ship products and anticipate that we will be able to meet all product supply needs going forward."

Dollens also said that the company is supporting employees affected by the military reserve and National Guard emergency call-up, and has policies in place to meet their needs at this time of national emergency.

"Given the gravity of this time, we believe it is important to focus on what matters most: our patients, who need our products; our customers, who depend on us; and our employees, who want to support our nation," continued Dollens.
