Guidant Announces Third Quarter Dividend

Indianapolis, Ind. - Guidant Corporation (NYSE: GDT), a world leader in the treatment of cardiac and vascular disease, today announced that the company''s board of directors declared a third quarter dividend of $0.08 per share on outstanding common stock. This dividend amount is equal to the second quarter dividend paid by Guidant on June 30, 2003. The dividend is payable September 15, 2003, to shareholders of record on September 1, 2003.
