Boston Scientific Receives 2004 Cadence Management Award for Excellence in Project Management
(April 8, 2005) -- Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX) today announced that it has received the Cadence Management Corporation 2004 Award for Customer Excellence in Project Management. This award recognizes Boston Scientific's accomplishments in creating a project-based system at the Company, including the formation of Project Management Offices (PMOs).

John Patton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cadence Management Corporation, presented the award to Boston Scientific at a recent ceremony. Patton cited several reasons as the basis for award selection, including the speed of implementation of the PMOs, the contribution of project management practices to Boston Scientific's growth, and the emphasis on continuous improvement of methods, tools, and training.

"An important key to Boston Scientific's success was the focus on a single, flexible standard project management process for projects worldwide," said Patton. "This facilitates improved communication and performance in Boston Scientific's virtual project team environment, where project team members can be separated by cities and continents."

"This prestigious recognition acknowledges our commitment to project management excellence as an integral element in our quest to be the world's best medical device developer and manufacturer," said Paul LaViolette, Boston Scientific Chief Operating Officer. "Our enhanced project management processes have enabled us to bring innovative medical technologies to clinicians and their patients more efficiently. This award is well-deserved for all our team members who have contributed to the development of a project-based culture at Boston Scientific Corporation."

The Cadence award is the latest in a series of formal recognitions of Boston Scientific's Project Management teams. In November 2004, Boston Scientific's Cardiovascular Group received the first Project of the Year Award from the Minnesota Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI-MN) for the TAXUS® Express2™ paclitaxel-eluting coronary stent system project. In addition, PMI-MN recently honored Boston Scientific with the New Corporate Partner of the Year Award for 2004 to recognize its outstanding support for PMI.
